Raise your hand if you have ever felt awkward in front of the camera (slowly raises hand).  I know I have. I HATE having my picture taking. And the reason for that is, I never know what to do.  Where should I look? How should I position my body? Do I smile? Do I not smile? I just never know.

And then because I don’t know what to do, the worrying starts.  Do I look silly? Do I have a double chin? Is my smile fake?

It’s terrible.

I think about this every time I work with a client.  If I feel all those things, then chances are they do too, and it’s my job, as the photographer, to help them relax.

That is why I pose my clients

I want them to know that I’m in charge so that they can sit back, relax and trust that I will make them look good!

How to Pose Families

Learning to pose families and individuals is something that took me years!  And what I know know is that it is the little things that happen within a pose that can really make or break an image.

I pay close attention to my clients hands, for example.  I tell them where to look, even when to laugh… I make sure that I am guiding them every step of the way, and the results are beautiful.
