Certification Clarification: All about the Sandra Coan Certification Program
In this episode, I’m sharing more about the Sandra Coan Certification Program that my team and I are working hard to launch in May. Before I get into it, I just want to say that if you're not already on the waiting list, please sign up for that!

All about Certification
The Sandra Coan Certification Program will teach you everything I know about lighting, posing, directing and how to build a solid, proven portfolio as a photographer. Because having a strong portfolio is such an integral part of this program, I'm going to very hands-on with each member. The brand I spent 24 years building in this industry is going to be associated with you and your work once you earn certification, so it's very important to me that your portfolio is held to the same standard I hold my own work to.
The program is broken into three phases which are lighting, posing and processing for consistency. Each phase has a series of lessons and assessments and once you've completed each phase, you and I will get on a Zoom call to analyze your portfolio according to the phase you've just completed.
We will also have monthly coaching calls where you can get feedback from other members and talk about whatever you need. Additionally, members will get free access to my in-person workshops at my studio in Seattle, as well as a 3-day members-only retreat. All of these will be recorded and uploaded to the student portal for those who aren't able to make it.
Once you've completed all three phases of the program, you'll be asked to submit a final portfolio for review. This submission will be graded on a rubric that I will give you access to beforehand so that you know what you'll be assessed on. Upon passing that final review, you will earn certification!
As a Certified Sandra Coan photographer, you'll receive a badge to be shared on your website and in your social media. You'll also be added to my international directory and referral network. In addition, you will be eligible to apply to become an associate instructor of The Sandra Coan Method in case you're interested in taking this work into the teaching space. I will work with certified associate instructors on things like how to submit to conferences, approach major brands for sponsorship and more!
Founding members will have lifetime access to the program and the community, and once certified they will also have continued access to the members-only retreats.
Once the doors open, those on the waiting list will be asked to apply. From there, we'll let you know if you qualify to get on an interview call with me and after the interview, I'll determine whether you're a good fit for the program.
