Student Success Stories with Ariel Cannon
Ariel Cannon of Ariel Cannon Photo is a maternity, newborn, and family photographer in Los Angeles, CA. She is best known for her natural newborn photography.
Ariel has taken my lighting course, The Missing Link, as well as The Six-Figure Studio and my level 2 mentoring program, Amplified. I’m excited to share this conversation we had about her successes and advice she has for fellow photographers!
A six-figure earner before joining The Six-Figure Studio.
If you can believe it, Ariel was already earning six figures before she took the plunge into my group coaching program, The Six-Figure Studio. Prior to enrolling, Ariel had already experimented with some of the core elements I teach and found that they resulted in a favorable outcome for her. And she wanted more of that.
Having invested in other education before, Ariel knew she wanted to commit to a program that fit her business personality. She also knew from experience that it's difficult to make an education model work if it's not a natural fit. Fortunately, we discovered that Ariel was the perfect fit for the program, and funnily enough the two of us even have similar business models! Ariel expressed that our like-minded thinking has been essential to building and evolving her business since joining The Six-Figure Studio.
Since starting off, Ariel already had a solid foundation in place for her business. She expressed that she was able to use the program to refine her current systems and double down on the things she knew were working for her. Ariel was also able to plug holes in her system as well as hone in on things she didn't have time for previously (because let's be real, we can't do all the things all the time!). This took her business to the next level.
From dragging her feet to earning $4k from one email.
I firmly believe that the secret to success in business is not getting complacent. And though the foundations of marketing stay the same, the platforms are always changing, which means that we have to learn new skills in order to keep up with the times. Ariel was particularly resistant to this when it came to her social media and email list strategies.
Ariel had gone eight years without a mailing list and without using Instagram strategically, and I knew that had to change when she joined my program. There was quite a bit of resistance, but when Ariel sent out her first email for the fall sessions she was offering, she ended up earning $4,000 from the sign-ups from that email alone.
Ariel acknowledged that The Six-Figure Studio is a ton of work but that it's totally worth it. She says the accountability has been crucial to helping her stay in a focused headspace and that having a coach gave her the push she needed to implement things she was resisting.
Ariel's advice.
Ariel has had to learn what it takes to have a successful business in LA's very competitive market, and these are the tips she has for our listeners! If you want to take your business to the next level, she recommends getting really clear on not only what you do, but also on what you want to do. This alone will take you a long way.
Ariel also recommends getting into the nitty gritty details of your business by looking at what's working and what's not and then taking action. You don't have to do everything at once, just "go for the low hanging fruit" as Ariel says!
