Which Wolf Are You Feeding?

During one of my Six-Figure Studio coaching calls, we had an in-depth conversation about all the things that make being in business for yourself so hard. I swear, 97% of the problems photographers face in their businesses boils down to mindset!

We are so good at beating ourselves up, picking apart our work, creating pricing structures to compete with others and none of that actually serves us or helps us move our careers forward. It just keeps us stuck.

You know, I recently heard this old Cherokee legend that goes something like this.

HIGHLIGHTS

What you focus on will grow.

An old man is teaching his grandson about life. “A fight is going on inside me.”, he said to the boy.

“It is a terrible fight, and it is between two wolves. One is evil—he is anger, envy, sorrow, regret, greed, arrogance, self-pity, guilt, resentment, inferiority, lies, false pride, superiority, and ego.”

He continued, “The other is good—he is joy, peace, love, hope, serenity, humility, kindness, benevolence, empathy, generosity, truth, compassion, and faith.

He said, The same fight is going on inside you—and inside every other person, too.”

The grandson thought about it for a minute and then asked his grandfather, “Which wolf will win?”.

The old Cherokee simply replied, “The one you feed.”

What you focus on grows, so if you focus on the negative like your insecurities, worries, self doubt—those are the things that are going to grow.

Instead, put on blinders. Focus on you and your business. Learn what you need to learn. Build your pricing on what you need to be profitable, not what other people are doing. Focus on those things, and those are what will grow.

I just wanted to pop on today to tell you that you are enough. Your work is great. People want it and need it in their lives. You deserve to be seen. Don’t worry about your competition—what they are doing and charging has nothing to do with you and your business.

There is enough for everyone, including you. You are called to do this work, and I believe that you are called to it for a reason. So put on your binders, and stop feeding the wolf that is bringing you down!
